Home Strategic plan Vision

Vision

Aboriginal people determining and managing education and training and their own affairs. This State Strategic Plan calls on those responsible for the provision of education and training services to become equal partners with Aboriginal people to enable the vision to become a reality. The basis of this partnership is:

  • Participation, consultation, negotiation and reconciliation;
  • Recognition and understanding which means respecting and valuing Aboriginal culture, world views and languages in all their diversity, both historical and contemporary;
  • Transparency, trust, and honesty: full disclosure of information and informed consent in decision making;
  • Equity and social justice;
  • Building on strengths and life experiences;
  • Continuous improvement of educational practices through evaluation; and
  • To recognize, understand and embrace Aboriginal history, culture and ways of learning, and use this knowledge creatively, flexibly and innovatively in teaching and learning programs.
