Appointment of members

The appointment and terms of office of members (other than ex-officio members) are as follows: The appointment and term of office of the Aboriginal Chairperson is determined by the Minister for Education for a period of no less than three years; the appointment of Aboriginal community members is recommended by the Chairperson to the Minister for Education, from applications received following the placement of a notice in the newspaper calling for expressions of interest in becoming a member of the Council.

Appointments approved by the Minister for Education are for a period up to three years and are then endorsed by Cabinet, after which time the appointment may be extended or the vacancy filled through a further call for expressions of interest; (through the Chairperson of the AETC) to the Minister for Education Confirmation of the appointment of new members is recorded in the form of "Letter of Appointment" clearly identifying the nominated commencement and cessation dates (where appropriate).
